Dr. Elisabeth Ladyman


Dr. Lis Ladyman was born in England, immigrated at an early age with her parents to Vernon B.C. where she completed her schooling.

Always wanting to become a veterinarian, she acquired a Bachelor of Science at the University of Guelph in 1969 followed by a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College in 1973.

Upon graduation she spent her first year at Nanton Veterinary Clinic in Alberta then took advantage of a travelling scholarship from OVC to enjoy practicing veterinary medicine in New Zealand, Australia and England and seeing many countries in between for a year and a half.

Once back in Canada, she was a locum in several locations in B.C. She was employed in Merritt for 3 years.  She then, spent a year in Salmon Arm with Shuswap Veterinary Clinic. She returned to Merritt in 1980 and established Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic at 1802 Charters St. She will close the clinic after 48 years on December 31, 2018, when the clinic will merge with Merritt Veterinary Hospital located a short distance away.

She will be available on specified appointments days, at Merritt Veterinary Hospital, to provide continued care for your pets  She will join the staff of veterinarians, Dr. Paul Molnar, Dr. Anne Flemming, and Dr. Becky Chan.

Lis has many interests associated with fun and the great outdoors... horseback riding, cattle ranching, watersports, fly fishing, kyaking, canoeing, curling, downhill and cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.

She enjoys her dog and her horse.

Welcome to the Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic

031Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic has been established since 1980 in its central downtown location in Merritt, and provides preventative and emergency care for companion and large animals.

After forty five plus years of the demands required of a small and large animal veterinarian, Dr. Elisabeth Ladyman  has chosen to merge Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic with:

The schedule for the merging of the two clinics is as follows:

As of December 15, 2018, services at Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic will be limited as inventory and equipment moves to Merritt Veterinary Hospital.

If your pet has a problem between December 15th and December 31st, 2018, please call Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic at 250-378-6136 and we can direct you to the appropriate location.

Effective January 1, 2019, all veterinary services or products usually acquired at Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic will at Merritt Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Ladyman will be available on specified appointments days, at Merritt Veterinary Hospital, to continue care for your pets.  At Merritt Veterinary Hospital Dr. Paul Molnar, Dr. Anne Flemming, and Dr. Becky Chan, are also available to provide veterinary services. The scope of practice promotes the well being of pets and livestock through health programs involving annual health and life stages, examinations and vaccination protocols.

In addition,Sharleen and Melissa will be familiar faces in this new location. You will continue to be contacted by staff members for vaccination reminders and medical recalls. Specially ordered foods, medications or other items arrive several days per week at Merritt Veterinary Hospital as has occurred at Nicola Valley Veterinary Clinic.

When asked about this change Dr.Ladyman would everyone to know "It is with mixed emotions and great sadness that I will be closing these doors on December 31, 2018. I look forward to seeing my many four legged and two legged friends at Merritt Veterinary Hospital. At this time, I wish to thank you for your support and entrusting me with the care of your pets and livestock over the past four decades".

Dr. Lis Ladyman is the founder/owner and graduated in 1973 from Ontario Veterinary College.
